Jones Industrial Mixers
has a rich history and a longstanding reputation
for production of robust, high quality and long-life
mixers. The business is now over 50 years old
and has manufactured and marketed mixers for over
40 years.
Mr Hugh Jones established Jones Engineering in
1955 to trade in used and refurbished
foundry equipment. This activity then expanded
into the field of industrial drying through equipment,
which he designed and built for the drying of
foundry sand. In 1964 a further diversification
took place into the field of industrial mixing.
The seed of today's business had been sown.
In 1969 the Jones Mixing division signed a Marketing
Agreement with Chemtra (Pty) Ltd whereby Chemtra
marketed Jones Mixers on an exclusive basis to
the pigment consuming industry, i.e. to the paint
and ink manufacturers. In December 1984 Jones
Mixer Division was bought out by Chemtra.
In January 1987 Chemtra became part of the Protea
Chemicals Group of Companies and because it was
felt that the business would function better in
an engineering environment, it was decided later
in 1987 to move Jones Mixers into the ambit of
Chemplast Marc Etter (later Quadrant Chemplast).
The business operated as a division of Chemplast
for 20 years. Chemplast actively promoted Jones
Mixers into the international market under the
name Jones International. Due to the reputation
gained by Jones equipment in the field over all
those years, all machines continue to carry the
familiar Jones logo which is so well known in the
market place.
In late 2007 it was decided that Jones needed a new home and that the business needed to be re-focused on pure mixing activities. This has resulted in the sale of Jones International to new South African investors, some of which are very familiar with the Jones range of products and their capabilities. Jones International is now trading as Jones Industrial Mixers (Pty) Ltd. A new team of long experienced Jones machine designers, service technicians, draughtsmen and sales staff is in place and will drive a new and better supply capability across all the Jones Industrial Mixer products.
In August 2010 Jones acquired its own new property in Founders View South Industrial Park based in Edenvale Johannesburg. We have now also established our own factory and assembly workshop and constantly display a selected number of machines on the floor for clients to assess and purchase from available stock. Visitors to the new Jones home are most welcome.
